The Government of Canada has announced a new stream of its temporary foreign worker program which aims to streamline labour market impact assessment process so high-growth Canadian companies can attract the skilled foreign workers they need. Part of the Canada’s Global Skills Strategy, the Global Talent Stream is set to launch June 12. It will allow companies applying for workers to use a new, pared-down labour market impact assessment program. Other elements of the Strategy include: Establishing a two-week standard for processing work permit applications (and temporary resident visas when applicable) for highly skilled talent; Dropping work permit requirement for short term, highly-skilled work and brief academic stays. Companies that apply for workers through the Global Talent Stream will have access to a new, streamlined application process that help guide eligible employers through the application process and development of the Labour Market Benefits Plan. There is a promised service standard of 10 business days and eligible workers could have their work permit applications processed in 10 business days. Back to all posts Share this post:
