On January 30, 2019, the Government of Canada extended the open work permit pilot project for in-Canada spousal and partner sponsorship applications to July 31, 2020. This work permit pilot project allows spouses and common-law partners to apply for an open work permit, if they are applying or have already applied for permanent residence under the in-Canada spousal and partner sponsorship process. In addition to being sponsored by a spouse or partner, applicants under the open work permit pilot project must be living in Canada, hold valid temporary resident status (visitor, student or worker) and live at the same address as their sponsor. At Borders Law Firm, we welcome the extension of the work permit pilot project and the continued benefits that this project will provide to sponsored applicants who work in Canada and their families. Charanjit singh I and my family want to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to Devika, John and the team at Borders Law firm for assisting us with the PRTD application for my mother at a time when most processing was closed due to lockdowns. They also worked proactively with us to establish a good strategy with back up plans which gave us sufficient information and assurance. Very responsive and forthcoming with information. Proactive in processing but at the same time they put enough time in the application and the supporting details to have high quality of the application. As a result our application was processed in 1 go at a time when it was critical and sensitive time for the family. Thank you again.
