The Government of Canada announced that starting July 5, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. EDT, all fully-vaccinated travellers (Canadians, Permanent Residents, foreign nationals travelling for essential purposes) will be exempted from the federal requirement to quarantine or take a COVID-19 test on Day 8 after their arrival. In addition, fully vaccinated travellers arriving by air will not be required to stay at a government-authorized hotel. Travellers must provide proof of their vaccinations electronically through the Government of Canada’s ArriveCAN application and will still need to meet all other mandatory requirements such as pre- and on-arrival COVID-19 testing. To be considered fully vaccinated, a traveller must have received the full-series or a combination of the following vaccinations: AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) Moderna Pfizer For travellers who are not fully vaccinated, there are no changes in the current border restrictions.
