Introduction Canada has introduced new immigration measures that aim to facilitate the reunification of loved ones while simultaneously addressing labor shortages within the country. These new measures include: 1. Specialized processing tools to encourage faster processing times for spousal temporary resident visa applicants; 2. Open work permits for spousal and family class applicants; and 3. Extensions for eligible groups of open work permit holders whose Canadian open work permits expire between August 1 and the end of 2023. 1. Faster Processing Times for Spousal TRV Applicants Canada announced faster TRV processing for spousal applicants through the use of newspecialized tools to help ensure that most applications complete processing within 30 days. This new measure will help ensure that families can benefit by being together sooner while they awaitthe finalization of their permanent residence applications. 2. Enhanced Opportunities for Families: Open Work Permits The new measures offer enhanced opportunities for families by granting eligible spouses, partners, and dependents the ability to work in Canada while their permanent residence applications are being processed. Once a complete PR application is submitted under the specified family class programs, these individuals can apply for an open work permit under the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (SPCLC) or other family class programs. By providing an open work permit at the initial stage of the application process, Canada seeks to facilitate the integration and support of spouses, partners, and dependents within the Canadian workforce. 3. Enhanced Opportunities for Families: Extension of Existing Open Work Permits Canada also introduced a new open work permit initiative that allows both spousal applicants and other open work permit holders to apply for an additional 18-month extension. Please be advised that Canada announced a similar extension for Post Graduate Work Permits on March 17, 2023. Conclusion The implementation of these new immigration measures signifies Canada’s dedication to striking a balance between family unity and economic growth. Through these initiatives, Canada is taking proactive steps to strengthen its society and enhance its labor market while upholding its core values of compassion and inclusivity. Teresa F. Borders Law Firm is my far the best experience I have had. After consulting and meeting with other immigration lawyers, I really felt confident with this firm. I have worked with Jenny Mao over the past year and I am happy to say that she has helped me out immensely and I am extreme grateful for not only her professionalism, but for her hard work and determination. I highly reccomend Borders Law Firm. From my experience, they are the best in the GTA.
Annie Caplan Devika and John were excellent. They understood how this process would change my life and helped me get to the US. John was extremely kind and thorough. When my employer in the US ended up trying to take advantage of me, they helped me transfer my visa to a new employer and had so much empathy for my situation and now I have a job in California that makes me so happy while helping others. I am beyond grateful for their kindness and service. I will be using them for any changes to my status going forward.
Neha K Borders Law firm - Devika OMG where do I start from.... so I got her number from my CA who I have been getting my taxes filed from last ten years. I was not sure what will happen to my mom's files becuase I had already tried four times before and everytime there was something or the other that happened and my application was not accepted... Devika has been my good luck, an angel in my life and a miracle believe it or not. I wish I could give you the details about why it was so so so important for my mom to get this immigration but unfortunately I can't share my personal details but I can tell you all one thing, that Devika and her team not only helped me with my mom's immigration case but also helped me with her super visa extension and all other obstacles we faced. I had no idea that my file can get approved so fast. Today I feel like my dream of having my mom here permanently came true all because of Devika. She is very knowledgeable, super patient, went out of her way to do, spent extra hours assisting me and completing this file. Always understood and heard my issues, with patience. I don't know how many times I cried with her and she always gave me hope and strength to be patient and wait for the approval. Honestly I am very impressed how she adds human touch to her immigration cases and treats the families with so much love and always been very professional as well. Devika is the best, she has an awesome awesome team. I can go on and on and on about her. I always suggest my friends her name and tell them about her services. It feels so good when I give her number to people in need of a good immigration lawyer, because in my heart I know that Devika will be able to help them with their immigration very well. She is the best Thank you Devika for being a great lawyer,a great human being and an angel in my life.
