IRCC has announced that they will now be using the term, “Maintained status” instead of “Implied Status”.

Maintained status occurs in a situation where a temporary resident applies to extend their period of authorized stay before it ends. Their period of authorized stay as temporary resident will be extended or ‘Maintained’ until a decision is made on their application. This change in terminology will greatly assist applicants in understanding the conditions of their status in Canada.

Please speak to one of our lawyers, if you need further clarification on Maintained Status.
